Bob the Builder

Bob the Builder Bob the Builder was created by Keith Chapman and first appeared on the BBC April 1999.  The popular children's programme is based around it's main character Bob is voiced by British actor Neil Morrissey.

Bob is a builder.  He likes to build.  And so do his friends, Scoop the yellow digger, Muck the green dump truck, Dizzy the orange cement mixer, Lofty the blue crane and Roley the green steamroller.

Bob has a colleague Wendy who is a builder as well and the office secretary. He also has a cat called Pilchard, and a dog called Scruffty.  Then there's the mischievous scarecrow Spud, who loiters around Farmer Pickles' field.

Spud is always up to no good, undermining the gang's hard work when he ought to be helping.  But between them all and despite the mix-ups, muddles and mayhem, buildings get built and constructions get constructed.

Meet Bob's team

Scratch Scratch is the baby of bob’s Can-Do crew who is always eager to impress and help the team on new projects. He is sometimes scared and nervous because he’s only a little digger.
Scoop Scoop loves to dig holes and move dirt. He is always up for a challenge and is always ready to take the lead on projects. Scoop admires bob and is the unspoken leader of the Can-Do crew.

Muck Muck digs and shifts soil and carries important building materials. He just loves to get messy and carting loads of supplies for Bob. But only during the day as he is scared of the dark.
Dizzy Dizzy is the youngest machine on Bob’s team. He enjoys music and chatters and giggles frequently. He’s always happy and spinning with curiosity. She can stand on her rear wheels and clap her front wheels like hands.

Roley Roley flatterns dirt, smoothes roads and is always ready to rock and roll. He loves to sing and make up songs.
Lofty Lofty is a tall mobile crane with three favourite tools: a grabber, an electromagnet and a demolition ball. Although timid at first he always rises to the occasion and holds up his end of the job.

Travis Travis laughs with a "ho ho" and is always very helpful when Bob needs his assistance. He is also always ready with a quick-witted comment.
Scrambler Scrambler is four wheel drive vechile who just loves to go off-roading. He enjoys a race, is bouncy and speaks in a "streetwise" style. He comes with a matching crash helmet.

Gripper Gripper has an extendable crane arm and working winch and a cab that can rotate 360 degrees. He is the same colour, shape and size as Grabber.
Grabber Grabber is an excavator and loves to dig and clear big holes. He is the same colour, shape and size as Gripper.

Tumbler Tumbler is the loudest machine on Bob’s team who sometimes doesn’t realise his own strength. But underneath he has a kind, gentle soul.
Flex Flex loves horticulture and has a surprising knowledge of planets. He is always eager to impress Bob and the team. But sometimes he pushes himself too hard when trying his best.

Bristle Bristle can take his enthusiasm for tidiness a little too far sometimes but he’s always super-energetic. He loves to greet everyone with a cheerful smile.
Splasher Splasher is the only amphibious vechile on Bob’s team and dreams of being a "Super Splasher", the bravest superhero ever. Loves to give guided tours of Bobland and Sunflower Valley.

Packer Packer collects, carries and delivers products all around the valley. He has two trailers – an open flat bed and a coverd trailer. He is full of enthusiam and always follows his nose!
Dodger Dodger works for Meg at the diary delivering milk. He has a special winch to load and unload crates and a funny-sounding horn that makes people laugh. Together with Packer and Scrambler they form the "Three Musketrucks".
Bob and his friends have featured in eight series, in each episode, Bob and his gang help with renovations, construction, and repairs and with other projects as needed.  The show emphasises, co-operation, socialization and various other learning skills which is very important for your child’s emotional development.

He also has mini adventures and his memorable songs have even been in the charts.  The first Bob The Builder single, "Can We Fix It?" reached number one position in the UK singles chart at Christmas 2000.  Bob's version of "Mambo No.5" came in September 2001.

Bob the Builder is shown in more than thirty countries, and versions are available in English, French, Spanish, Slovenian, German, Italian, Dutch, Hebrew, Hindi and Croatian, among other languages.
